RS: Very interesting find. Could it be that the first gen phones were to be proof of concept units all along?

Go back in those brain cells (or notes) and I seem to remember the initial contracts from G* to the manufacturers were an 'as ordered' deal, correct?

Some of the more positive folks could say the house of cards that was G*'s original (1997ish) roll out plans came apart with Zenit. It seems that there might have been some other monkey wrenches thrown into the works as well. This might be why Qualcomm has not been overly insistent in receiving payment for the ground stations delivered.

One thing for sure, the companies involved sure give the rest of us things to ponder!
