NT halted in Canada

Nortel Networks (NT: news, msgs) shares have been halted by the Toronto Stock Exchange, but are still trading on domestic markets. Shares are currently down $17.38, or 27 percent, to $45.63. The TSE will be issuing a statement about the effect of Nortel's share price decline on the TSE's 300 Composite index, of which Nortel comprises 30 percent of the index. Nortel's slide, related to its quarterly financial's reported on Tuesday evening (See previous items), has pulled the TSE 300 down more than 10 percent, its biggest slide ever.
