Your splits suggest Intel will have to throw about 1/3 of the P4s in the dumpster. A normal curve suggests 80k 1.3Ghz, 15k 1.2Ghz, 5k 1.1GHz and 500 1.0 Ghz.

I see no reason why the sweet spot is the lowest speed grade unless it is artificially cut at that point which is possible.

2mil in q1 would imply that intel is not going to increase production that much during '01 - 12mil/year. I see no specific reason for that.

Also would not you expect that intel would tweak their production here and there so the distribution would improve?
