Used to be settlement, then either, my Dear. Cash basis sort of went out the window with securities ..... we shall see about that if the market ever crashed and settlements didn't occur. -ng-

CB, some of the folks here are used to working with institutions where the settlement is the taxable event, not the trade. For us mortals trading in our personal accounts, however, the trade is the taxable event.
