Dave, It ties in with the positioning of the PIII, not the P4, as the Christmas "offer".
It may also cause some people on the thread to rethink the ramp of P4. <g>

And assuming the rumors of the i820 phase-out this year were true, I would expect to see some close-out/inventory reduction sales. The DELL Dimension XPS B and OptiPlex GX200/300 would be candidates.

If so, a big question for me would be the platforms they're replaced with. Normally I would expect the P4 to slip in here. But since they're dual channel DRDRAM systems, and considering DELL gets $400.00 for a 128MB RIMM, (and to upgrade they have to be added in pairs), can they successfully intro them in say, Q1?

And not long after you get Tualatin. Seem's to me these would be better candidates for the new model's. (This has got to be driving the PC makers nut's). <G>

All speculation, of course, but the next few month's will be quite interesting. <G>
