<<If Depo-Provera is such a good drug, why don't educated white women in this country use it? >>

For all the reasons you give. It is high risk, and there are much better forms of birth control.

I knew a group of female Peace Corps Volunteers in Africa who were outraged at the use of depo-provera for all those good reasons, and waged a campaign against it.

They found out that there are women who know everything you say, yet choose depo-provera because their husband can detect an IUD, there is no place in a mud hut to hide pills, and the risks associated with depo-provera are less important to them than those of having a baby every year.

They stopped their campaign.
