<< True. I'm not taking issue with your point, but that higher priced AMD board will probably have more speed/upgrade potential than the $40-$50 board has. A purchaser of a cheap board will never have more than a cheap board (unless it's the headaches that accompany them). >>

The cheap board goes into the $500 computer for the person who knows nothing about computers but heard they just have to get on to the internet. It doesn't matter to these customers that the pc is basically a throw away when it's done. In 2 years, they can probably buy a new pc twice as fast for half the price anyway, so why would they worry about it as long as it fits their current needs?
