Investors in Canada are protected by the Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF). The CIPF is a private trust fund established to protect customers in the event of the insolvency of a member of any of following Self-Regulatory Organizations: the Canadian Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange, Toronto Stock Exchange, and the Investment Dealers Association of Canada. I believe there was some talk i am not sure when of opening up our social security to investment. I am unsure if we have the same clause in our exchanges. It sounds like a trustworthy exchange must have superb, governing laws. A far cry from the VSE.
