Casio to Launch Low-Priced Digital Camera for US$90

October 25, 2000 (TOKYO) -- Casio Computer Co., Ltd. by the end of November plans to
launch a digital camera, the LV-10, that comes with a CMOS sensor with 300,000 pixels.

It will be released at an open price, but the retail price
is expected to be around 9,800 yen. (about US$90 by
108.50 yen = US$1)

This is the first time that a leading Japanese
electronics maker, which used to focus on
high-performance digital cameras, will introduce a
model priced at less than 10,000 yen. Until now, toy
makers were in center stage selling the low-priced
digital cameras.

Compared with other low-priced digital cameras, the LV-10 has more basic functions,
such as a built-in strobe light.

The main specifications are as follows: the resolution comes in 640 x 480 pixels and 320 x
240 pixels. The number of images is about 60 images (640 x 480 pixels) and about 120
images (320 x 240 pixels). It has a 4MB, built-in EEPROM flash memory. About 900 shots
can be taken continuously using two AA batteries. It has a USB interface. The camera
measures 94mm wide by 63mm deep by 34mm thick, and weighs about 120g without
batteries.
