I was just commenting they had over 40% in those assets back in August 1999, so it really isn't much greater now at 45%.
No one was interested when I pointed out the 40% and started a thread, so I don't think they will get excited now at 45% <g>
Besides, PGMs and PGM stocks look near their top, with hugh production increases coming out of RSA in the next few years.

RE: ASA holdings

I get a lot from this thread so i thought i would put a little back. Just received this from ASA after a few days of waiting... The first part was my message addressed to them through their website. Their answer which i hope will be useful to Bob, Ike, Joan, Heinz (when not on the Clown Thread) MB and others ...

Your site is poorly designed. It is difficult to obtain information unless
one is using Windows and some of the scripts just dont work. I am a buyer
here of ASA but cannot find the information i need.

What is your biggest holding? What companies are found in your holdings and
in what percentages? Can you provide these details through text only email?

<<<

Our web site is presently being redesigned and should be available to you
shortly.

The information you require is as follows:

CANADIAN GOLD MINES - 5.67%
Barrick Gold Corporation
Franco-Nevada Mining Corporation Ltd
Placer Dome Incorporated

SOUTH AFRICAN GOLD MINES - 45.85%
Anglogold Ltd
Harmony Gold Mining Co Ltd ADR
Harmony Gold Mining Co Ltd
Gold Fields Ltd
Western Areas Ltd

DIAMONDS - 10.23%
De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd/Centenary AG

MINING HOUSES - 8.89%
Anglo American PLC

PLATINUM - 26.49%
Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd
Anglo American Platinum Corporation Ltd

<<<

I own my quota of the names in there, some in soize, so i am not sure i really want to add here, unless my 10 dollar bid for ASA is hit of course...

Somehow i think it wont be hit though, just that eery feeling before you go off carrening over the cliff i suppose.
