My wife and I are coming to San Francisco this weekend. I have not been there in close to 20 years and my wife has never been there. We'll probably take it easy. Stay downtown, go to Fishermans Wharf and Chinatown, but if anyone has strong opinions on something we shouldn't miss, I'd like to hear from you.

Jeff,

Eat Italian in North Beach...preferably in one of the restaurants that has a family style setup with long tables and benches, and then go see Beach Blanket Babylon...the musical.

Salty's is a great seafood place to eat dinner, I think it's right on the Bay if memory service me.

Also the BART ride under the bay is interesting! LOL

Jeff, great restaurants in North Beach are Caffe Sport and Ristorante Ideale. My two favorite places for italian. Make a trip over to the GG Bridge and visit Fort Bragg, its a really cool Fort and there are great views of the Bridge (you're actually under it).

Do some shopping over on Union Street in Cow Hollow (aroudn Fillmore), your wife will love it. Union Square is an absolute zoo on weekends.

Drive thru the Presidio, up thru Seacliff and around the Legion of Honor. Amazing views of the bay.

Go over the GG Bridge to the Marin Headlands. Right on the other side of the bridge is a great lookout point back to SF.

If you can get tickets, go to Alcatraz. It sounds pretty touristy, but it's really cool.

Second Chinatown is very fun, too. It's on Clement in the Richmond District.

This one is cool ... Get on Geary going west - all the way to the beach. There are remnants of an old bathouse which is really cool. Then go to the Cliffhouse and go to the Camera Obscura, and the old Penny Arcade. Then drive down the coast a mile and turn left into Golden Gate Park. The park is HUGE and it will take you a while. Lots to do in there. Even a heard of buffalo. Then come out onto Haight and go thru Haight/Ashbury (just say no).

If you want a cool little bar - go to Pier 23. If it's a nice day outside, go sit down have a beer looking over the water. I just went to a GREAT restaurant called Lapis in that area also. Pier 39 is touristy, but it's kinda fun. While in the area, go to Ghirardelli Square.

That may sound like a lot, but its not. SF is a VERY small city. Nothing is more than six or seven miles.

Well, enjoy my city! At least for another week that I'm a resident. Phoenix ... ugh ...
