David Grissmer (Ph.D., Physics, Purdue University) is a senior management scientist at RAND. His education research topics include teacher supply and demand, teacher compensation and attrition patterns, analysis of national test scores to determine causes of changing trends, and analysis of state test scores to determine causes of state differences. David is currently working with the Office of Science and Technology in the White House to assess the federal research and development portfolio on children, and he is developing estimates of the number and location of children at educational risk in the United States. He has produced numerous publications in the field of education and has presented briefings on his work to U.S. congressmen and congressional staff, state legislators, state education officials, and educators in thirteen states. rand.org
