You should look at Chile. They have done wonders with privatizing their social security. Government is not efficient. The private sector will always outperform government. I don't agree at all that allowing people, by choice, to invest a portion of their money. It will earn more and, therefore, there will be more money in the retirement program, not less. That is, unless you believe history will be reversed and, over a long term, invested money will not grow at a minimum of from 6 to 10%.
