I said this:

Jews had been the victims of extermination designs since shortly after the Christian Church was able to rise to the seat of power

To which you replied this:

"I'm afraid you've fallen into the usual misapprehension about the historical roots of anti-Semitism"

Indeed, I have not:

Approximately a quarter to one-third of the entire Jewish population in Germany and northern France was murdered during the First Crusade...

'God hates you.' These words of Chrysostom popularized Jew-hatred for centuries to come. Thus, to quote one historian: 'The popular Christian doctrine has always been that anyone, whether pagan or Christian, who has at any time persecuted, tortured or massacred Jews has acted as an instrument of Divine wrath.'

I suggest that you read this account thoughtfully. Hopefully this will allow you to fold the Nazi chapter into the context of history; Because you know what, Gustave? The dead have a huge story to tell you...

Perhaps my tone was a bit pre-emptive. I really have been unable to keep up with the new posters. I have looked at your posts more closely, and see some interesting thought.

Belgium, eh!? I guess it is more than chocolates...
