The Truth About the Rand paper

Yesterday, I heard former Secretary of Education William Bennett discussing this. Heres the truth:

o In July Rand produced a full report over 200 pages in
length that was highly favorable to the Texas education system. This report went through the normal rigorous
research INCLUDING PEER REVIEW. The author of the report
was contacted and he stands by the conclusions in the
original report.

o This most recent report was 14 pages written by a single
individual and was NOT subjected to the normal peer
review process. Apparently, this report was put out
with political motivations.

The fact that Rand's president defended the latest report is meaningless. Do you think he'd actually admit that there was any ulterior motive behind the release of the report.

IMHO, the Bush campaign should put out an ad that addresses the facts here directly. They don't have to "fight fire with fire" (e.g., nastiness). All that's really necessary is to get the truth out.
