And 12 and change represents shareholder value. Eight years of increasing production, hedging, and the resulting shareprice of less than it was eight years ago is value. They have succeeded in helping pummel the price of gold thru overproduction and the addition of artificial supply by leveraging their in ground supplies thru leasing arrangements that have benefitted the bankers, and the cb's, but not the shareholders.

Pouring accolades on the management of barrick as great managers is tantamount to saying that Saddam Husseim is a great general. They care less about you and everyone of their shareholders except themselves. Fortunate for them they are compensated thru cash flow and not share price, unfortunate to the shareholder, their only venue for profit is price appreciation of the stock.

Totally agree - and BTW hasn't Barrick signalled it's intention to buy back its own shares in the past? So far asI know the mechanism is in place.

ABX might be making money, but its shareholders are suffering heavy losses along with all the other gold producers.
