Hi eBill - from the CC, it appears that NT is moving to strengthen its MIS. There is always rooms for improvement. While CSCO and NT are somewhat of a competitor to each other, different people have different style. Sure, learning is a life long task --- so long as they don't learn to cook the book like you ve suggested :) --- I am sure that NT may even take a page from CSCO. That said, I am not sure it is best to force a square peg in a round hole. Time will tell if NT is learning her lesson real soon. In the time mean, like Mr Parmelee from CSFB has suggested, when the mkt presents people a buying oppty, take it while it lasts. Is there any guarantee? Of course not. To those disbelievers, sell or short NT if they want. To those believers, I don't see a minor infraction of failing to account for the finicky analyst's expectations is a reason to shout "treason!" :)

Just a thought

best, Bosco

"CSCO's internal systems are very sophisticated. Chambers has visibility into sales activity and cash flows almost on a daily basis. That's why they can announce earnings only a few days after quarter end."

Yes I know. I've done consulting in the IT area with Cisco. It's a shame Nortel farmed out it's IT group rather than sinking money into it like Cisco has over the last 10 years. Cisco sees their systems, web sites and applications as a strategic weapon over their competition. And with the amount of work they farm out to third party vendors they NEED systems to track and control everything. In some ways Cisco is almost an R&D group and finance holding company now days. Very little is constructed or repaired by Cisco.

Yes, and Chambers can be believed, he is credible.

btw, last time I looked, a far smaller percentage of Cisco sales are made to hard-hit telcos than Nortel or its twin, Lucent. That has not yet been factored into their equation.
