This applies to the market direction thread.
If one had invested in few solid companies sixty years ago they would of amassed a fortune by today. The descendents of this individual would be living of a trust fund if for no other reason than the forefathers blind belief in the future prospects of a company.

To me charts are history. Not seen in the charts is logic as to the capability of a company.

It is almost impossible to project the whole picture. The picture in numerous companies gets less lucid everyday when you combine this as world business, international exposure, which means currency changes, political conditions, legal and accounting problems.

You hope you find a track record. IBM's price might stock price might get hit but chances are far better that it will get bounce and split again. If you hold it you should end up way ahead and much less stressed. Just look a Ford from an engine of couple of horsepower to now.

There are ever going to be high fliers as there ever will be progressive companies who will evolve. These companies end up buying the high fliers that truly have something to add.
