Tench,

re"- The much faster ramp-up of processor speeds. For example, AMD is blazing away with 1.2 GHz Athlons, yet they're still very limited by a memory channel that is running at one-ninth the speed of the processor.

- Marketing. "TeamDDR" will naturally want to exaggerate the benefits of DDR in order to drive its acceptance into the marketplace. As Intel already proved with RDRAM and 820, real-world performance can be miles away from the rosy scenario that you present."

The rambus performance sucks big time compared to 815 and thats the way everybodys moving. Even Intels own benchmarks showed RDRAM sucked big time.

If Athlon performance is improved with DDR over PC133 then surely it is a big deal.

PS: your comment of 75% RDRAM market share sure got the rambus bulls all excited. Hopefully they realize that 300K units in a quarter of 40M units is still less than 1% marketshare. But then facts never were very important for these idiots.

regards,

Kash
