<< P4 will be the primary chip sometime in 2002. Intel

P4 unit volume going to surpass P3? >>

Intel has made some cautious forward looking statements. They'll do what they have to to remain competitive. Intel is facing a lot of catch 22s in shifting production to the p4, but how many p4s do you think they need to sell to steal the high end and most of the midrange? Not a majority of the production line to any extent. This probably wouldn't put AMD in the red by any stretch, but if they show revenue/earnings decline it's just as good as going into the red.

<< Of course, AMD will have something faster and better by
that time. Just do a 0.13 shrink and we're talking 2 Ghz
or so. >>

That'd be great if we were the only ones doing a shrink.

<< Who here think's that AMD doesn't even deserve 1/20th of Intel's market cap? Paul? :) At 1/20th, that's 15 billion, or $50 a share. >>

Deserves, and getting there are 2 different things. If the public hasn't awarded us one yet, what makes you think they will in the future?
