Yes Unions in Mich will help. So will Pro-Choice womens groups. Clinton can rally the blacks and hopefully enough in Arkansas who have forgotten his magic. I see Bush now just trying to rally with slogans, play out the clock and deflect the spotlight on his Texas record. But he has to play defense too. He's just as scared as Gore now. Bush knows he could lose Florida. He could lose also Missouri on Carnahan sympathy or Michigan by a hair. But he has more money than Gore/ Or does he? Are the unions making up for it? Outspending the NRA by a wide enough margin?

Face it, if you're a partisan you're scared right now. Hopeful but scared. All you can hope for is that your side doesn't blow it somehow.

Also don't forget October surprises. Will Clinton order an attack on Bin Lauden? Will Larry Flynt produce his witness to Bush's GF's abortion? Will Gore climb into a tank or go hunting and accidentally shoot an endangered species? Will Nader back down? Will some scandal in the Nixon tapes remind people of the bad old days?

Will anything like this grab the headlines for a crucial few days and knock the victim off-stride?
