I don't think 3DO needs to be taken over. I think some institutional investors are bailing out because earnings (and therefore the price of 3DO stock) is not going to rise as rapidly or as high as they would like. Trip has always viewed things from a long term perspective. There is no doubt in my mind that 3DO is going to be a successful. That is not a given in the entertainment software field. Trip's foray into internet gaming again is unsettling in the current investment climate. Trip thinks the company's patent will begin generating a steady revenue stream around 2002. That must be when broadband connectivity has reached sufficient saturation to make games over the internet entertaining enough to generate a real revenue stream. I'm willing to wager that Trip knows what he's doing. I think it is pretty safe bet when the stock is selling for less than $5 a share. I plan to buy more and average down. I've managed to break even on 3DO through all its ups and downs. You have to work a little harder with this one than you do with some others.

Sega is throwing in the towel. dailynews.yahoo.com Sega is now trying to do what Trip and 3DO has already done -- restructure from being a hardware company to being a software company. Sega is just four years behind Trip. Had Sega bought into M2 and beat Sony to market with a decent game machine, both companies would be in a lot better shape today and Sony would be doing a lot worse. Trip is still running 3DO. If the Bozo who was running Sega 4-5 years ago is still there, he ought to be fired.
