accountnats cannot quantify knowledge, skill, experience and genius. these are the most powerful assets of firms like nortel but no one knows how to put them on the books. so price to book omits a large component of "book", thus not meaningful.
GM has huge investments in physical plant, so it has a wonderful p/b ratio. i think it pays a dividend.
why not buy GM, hold it for 2-3 years then compare it with what your results would've been if you'd put that amount in nortel. that will sum up all we say now.
