Did you consider the possibility that the reason that there are so few atheists in prison is the same reason that there are so few of them in fox holes?

That's true. I've always answered "atheist" when the subject arose-- but when my son and daughter have been involved, I have feared they might suffer repercussions that I couldn't shield them from, and therefore have lied. My daughter, for example, is cared for in a residence for the profoundly retarded. She is entirely helpless. I have her listed as "Protestant."
