Re: BREAK IT DOWN BABY!!

I think you've done an excellent job of doing so. I'd also be interested in capex between IP oriented versus SONET gear, (I suppose through in ATM just to get a total).

In the long run, Dave, I agree with your general thesis, although I'll defend my comparisons with wireless - not saying this is a literal analogy, but close enough both in time, ultimate customers (carriers) and WS perceptions and behavior.

It's the perceptions that kill you. I suppose if you are a 10-year holder, it matters not. Buy well, monitor fundamwentals, ignore price completely, wait the decade, sell, retire.

But there's a great middle ground of SI posters between the daytraders and the no-matter what LTB&H'ers. To us, price, and Wall Street perceptions (that can jut a stock in half, or more) do matter. We have learned that "HE (or she) WHO FAILS TO LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES OF THE PAST IS CONDEMNED ..." (you know the rest)

Thanks for your thoughts. They make eminent sense to me. The over-generalizations can lead to trouble or opportunity. Your points are the start of a nice road map to opportunity.
