daniel, that is correct, in theory. problem was, back in 1995/1996, that gdp didn't reflect much increase for displaced people getting other work. why, it wasn't there.

again, they then chose to manipulate the numbers to make it happen.

gdp is actually growing at 2-3% - a historical standard. unemployment is at an all time low...

why? nobody cares, just manipulate numbers.

my guess is that the technology causes deflation to offset any gains.

also, quality of life is more impacted by the lowest savings rates in history, massive credit creation, double digit money supply growth and a bubble stock market.

sounds old economy to me ;-)
