Circuit City said that even though they see a slow-down across their consumer electronics categories, I quote from a Merrill Lynch report:

"CC has indicated that sales of digital products are trending above-average..."

Good news for Sandisk.

Larry, re: "Lexar Announces 279% Revenue Increase"

FREMONT, Calif., Oct 25, 2000 -- Lexar Media, Inc. today reported record financial results for its third quarter and nine-month period ended September 30, 2000. Third quarter revenues totaled $31.0 million, about 1/4th as much as SNDK -- Lexar's closest competitor.

After taking everything into account, unlike SNDK, Lexar reported that its pro forma loss was $5.9 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 2000 or $0.19 per share -- compared to a slightly worse loss in the same period last year. Management was quoted as saying "we are getting better at selling stuff that other people make for us using stolen technology".

If you include all the stock options and other freebies granted to Lexar's staff and management, Lexar's loss was $14.3 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 2000 or $0.46 -- compared to a smaller loss of $10.8 million. Management explained that "it took a long to figure out how to totally shaft our shareholders".

"Many factors play to Lexar's core strengths, and we fully intend to capitalize on them," said Mr. Reimer. "We are committed to stealing technology wherever we find it and to suing anyone who gets in our way."

PS The post was designed to get your attention. Amazing as at may seem, most of it was extracted from the 'Net, as posted. But I've changed enough that you shouldn't rely on any of the above to be true. By so saying, knowing that this is the eve of Halloween, the guys at Lexar haven't a hope in Hell of suing me. With Halloween in mind, that makes me very happy.
