Looks like ATIS is in a wait and see mode, with the relative price and volume inaction actually being good signs in this market environment. There are several key upcoming points: DG should go one way or the other, although I believe it will get approval, soon. The 180 day timeframe from August 2000 isn't that far away, assuming it takes that long to hear. Whether a panel review will be needed is another question, although I'd be surprised, as they already had one and had been recommended once. As I have been reminded, ATIS is still "hopeful" that a cardiovascular alliance will be in place by year's end(2000). No way to say exactly when, or more importantly, in what form(regarding overall c/v or specific components of it, such as angiopatch, small diameter blood vessels, etc.). The key here is that if this alliance occurs, and if so it is likely with a leader in the c/v industry (like S&N is with wound repair) it will spread the risk, allow ATIS not to look as much like a one dimensional company(not have most of its eggs in one basket), have additional revenues to continue to give time to expand the pipeline, and increase ATIS' visibility/credibility. Of course, potentially coming out with big news in multiple areas(ie potential new alliance and potential product approval) within close proximities to each other timewise can't help but help propel the share price, albeit affected by whatever the market/biotech sector environments look like at the times. However, it doesn't look like we're going to have to wait long to find out about these near-term events, finally. Otherwise, other events appear to be a bit further out: 2nd half of 2001 likely human injectable collagen(with IMDC), Laserderm(TC) likely later, revenues from cosmeceuticals(likely not significant within the next year), moving the cartilage trials for humans forward(timeframe simply continues to apparently move back, probably due to the need to cover certain ventures solidly first, such as skin and c/v), etc. Of course, all of my comments are my opinion based on facts presented. Otherwise, I hope all is well and nobody gorges too much during candy season. Regards.
