I think you radically overestimate the number of people who will buy based on performance and not based on ghz sells.

Power users will know the difference. As for the "sweet spot" market of the blissfully ignorant, Intel won't be able to make P4 mainstream until 2H 2001. It's too expensive. Did you know that the 850 chip set runs at 80 C!
