I'm not saying I'm God, I'm just discussing the responsibilities of the various parties.

If a father neglects his son, and due to that neglect, the son does something bad, isn't the father partly responsible for the bad deed?

You speak of our obligation to God, but not of God's obligation to us. If the deal is that I have responsibility to God, but God has none towards me, then I will abstain from that relationship, and take my chances.
