If FD scrutiny makes companies tight-lipped, rumors could fill the void and run unchecked. This may be true in the beginning, but eventually the public will have to know a rumor can't start within a company simply because managers can't talk to analysts --- or anyone else, for that matter --- without the information being made available to everyone. Today's NT rumor should never have hit the wires. NT could not have talked to Goldman Sachs and everyone above room temperature IQ knew it. Unfortunately. . . Pat
