Doug,

HUH? I'd have expected P4 systems at $2500+++ on intro, and I'd be extremely surprised to see them at $1500 in Q1. Bizarre.

The system prices are meaningless if you don't know what goes into the system. I think what's important is the price of motherboard, CPU and 128 MB of RAM for mainstream to higher end system. Compare these 2, add some % for profit margin and you will get your answer on which system will be more competitive.

Joe

RE:"Pundits reckon that 760-based Athlons should cost between $1800 and $2500, compared with Intel's Rambus-equipped Pentium 4s which will initially be in the >$2k range, but rapidly drop down into the >$1.5k bracket in Q1 next year."

I think Mike Magee needs to get home ASAP. The Register has gone to the dogs. LOL...
