By lowering the expectations? You could look good by not doing as badly as you said you might. (Not a joke)

Perhaps, the infrastructure stocks would be in even greater demand. After all, when revenue slows wouldn't there be even greater pressure to increase productivity?

Only problem is, with slowing revenues, companies don't have the money to invest in infrastructure and other productivity-enhancing tools. And financing for such things dries up, as is beginning to be the case, with corporate bonds getting crunched. The entire food chain slows, that is why a recession happens. Again, I am not predicting this, only saying that we are teetering, and a soft landing is very much in doubt. Let's see what happens after the elections, and if we get a 4th quarter rally. If not, we are in trouble.
