A(Athlon),M(Mustang, Morgan),and D(Duron) There 2 more days for mutual fund to write-off gain. Rarely a MF sells all of its holding in a stock. Fidelity must have reduced its AMD holding to hedge against a PC slowdown. Otherwise they could have dumped the remaining 5% by now. IMHO the selling will abate next week. AMD is ready to take off. 2 more days is not long enough to dump all 13 MM plus shares w/o driving it to way below book value. MF normally unwind their position gradually to get a good price. The fact that Fidelity still holds 5% means they are still bullish on AMD long term. When visibility is clear they will be back driving the price up as in 1H00. Much stronger hands now own AMD at the end of MF tax selling period. The worst is over. 1H01 looks mightily good for AMD. We should see AMD makes some meaningful reverse-correction around AMD's annual analyst conference 11/9/00. Any mentioning of seasonal order pickup and excellent infrastructure support for A (Athlon), M horses (Mustang, Morgan), and D (Duron) would propell the stock.
