Mark.....Transmeta..... Transmeta's Crusoe might be disruptive by virtue of its energy efficiency. But so what???????? 1. Intel is rapidly reducing the power requirements of its mobile chips. they now get 3-4 hours of battery life. How many people need a notebook to continuously run more than that? Further, on transcontinental flights, I always carry a 2nd charged battery. If I had to choose a slower processor, and 1 battery, vs. a faster processor, and the need for 2 batteries, I'd take the latter every time. Just ordered a new thinkpad....850 mhz processor, 500+ SDRAM, 3 hour battery life. I'd much rather have this package, ~5 lbs, than any other for my affairs. 2. You quote CC's Innovator's Dilemma correctly. But what about TRFM? don't invest in enabling hardware until the tornado begins. In transmeta's case, they've haven't crossed the chasm; no bowling pins downed, no widespread adoption. Seems risky, particularly in this market. Good luck, Apollo
