KDDI which consolidates into national service on 11/1, has grown it's "Au" subscriber base from 1 million in January to 4 million now... As 1x doubles voice capacity at 10-15x the throughput, they are in position to lunch NTT and J Phone.

Say you're a Korean telco and you start building your WCDMA network. At some point you realize that handsets aren't going to cut it because of power consumption/tardiness/whatever, what does it take to start switching network to CDMA2000. Is it software only or software and chips or rip out the guts and start over?

Same question the other way, CDMA2000 to WCDMA.
