Uninstalled and reinstalled Alta Vista and it's still doing the error message. So I guess I'll just use another of the free ISPs. Is a puzzlement!

thecow, I just received an offer from MSN: free installation and free modem for DSL, then $40 per month.
I'm thinking hard about it. The DSL provider is actually North Point.

I'm into my 2nd year of a 3 year commitment with MSN, so have to ask if the offer applies to existing users of MSN.

MSN is not perfect, of course, but no disconnects makes up for a lot of other sins.

What is the method to free up the browser window of all the junk on MSN explorer?

Thanks for the ideas on the Windows Me issue. Still trying to resolve it.
