Chuck - RE: "Actually the SB line went to 950 the day 1.2G was announced. The consumer line seems to be catching up just now."

Ahh, I always assumed consumer and SB moved at the same pace.

"That is mildly amusing/annoying. More than that I am a little bothered that no one outside Gateway is able to keep pace with the MHz ramp. AMD really needs more direct players to ramp products this fast."

I'm surprised Compaq is so far behind. They are still offering 850MHz and 1.1GHz is the top for their built to order. HP barely promotes their built to order, and IBM's site is so screwed up it is hard to navigate. Micron is supposed to be selling Athlons soon, but they're much smaller than Gateway.

"Dell may turn out be a great case study very soon if the "only Intel CPUs" policy stays."

I can't wait for next Q when Gateway will probably have 1.1GHz in their $1299 system and Dell will only offer up to 1GHz PIII. Heck, this Q when the 1GHz (hopefully) moves to the $1299 PC will also be great. P4 platform will be too expensive for this low of a mid range PC.
