Eric,
For your information: The Compaq rep I spoke to did say there were some minor software design problems with the Athion when it first came out. Software problems not processor problems. However, those problems were solved in a short time. With the ramp up of Athion sales, there should be no software problems in the future.

Somehow, I doubt I will regret buying the Athion. However, I did purchase the extended on site warrantee. So Compaq will regret it more then me if it doesn't work well. A part of the warrantee is a Compaq repurchase at the end of the warrantee period if I buy another CPQ PC. That was a deal I couldn't pass up. I normally run PCs until they can't handle the software any more. I have an old PC collection. They all work fine as long as you use the old software but nobody wants a 268 with a 100 Kb hard drive and a 5 1/2 floppy drive.<g> They are all going to the trash man this week.

The INTC Vs AMD battle rages on. I visited the AMD thread shortly after doing a little DD and purchasing a number of shares. I have to say you guys are constantly at war with INTC. Sometime ago when I owned some INTC and read the INTC thread, the INTC thread was almost as bad. It lead me to reading "Inside Intel." The competition between the two companies is absolutely cut throat. Almost as bad as the competition between the stockholders. The CPQ Vs Dell competition can't hold a candle to you guys.

I hope AMD does well over the next month or so. It does look like Jerry has a winner with the Athion.
