Kelley, Intel solved the problems with the 840 just fine.

You don't suppose the fact it's dual channel helps performance, do you? Also, with paired RIMM's there are twice as many chips in the "Active" power state.

It has thermal sensors as well. In fact, if you block its cooling fan it will tell you(under NT).

I think you're confusing the "box" thermal sensor with the RDRAM "thermal throttle".

BTW, I find it interesting that the fastest RIMM on the i840 based IBM IntelliStation line of WS's is PC700. Wonder why that is?
