"There is no advanced tad involved in IE 5.5 toolbar or Control panel Internet Options" then that must be the difference, and that is why i posted to you that i am using ie5.0 "Perhaps Netscape has a different route" i didn't use netscape "The settings can also be accessed from the ISP icon which displays the connect to box(password,phone number,etc.There it's Properties/Dialing" again, what i am saying is, not on my machine. if the discrepancy all boils down to which version of ie one is running, as i suspect, then so be it. this is a minor matter, and i apologize for going into such great detail. it looks like your suggestion has fixed susie's problem, and that is what really counts. :) mark
