<<It is very tough to stay in market like this and not to loose belief in your own convictions. It does take either extraordinary character strength or some very unique knowledge of the market that other people do not have.
(Would not it also help to have some extra cash. :)>>

Could not have said it better myself. I know it's not "just me"...I know I am not jinxed. But yes, the market does make many lose confidence in their abilities...it makes them question their own decisions. Additionally, yes, cash, in my eyes, has alot to do with keeping the faith. When I had deeper pockets, my emotions never got the best of me. A stock I own going down hard, excited me because it presented more opportunity to make money. I could buy and keep on buying. Now, after this awful year, there just are no funds left. It makes me very emotional over my decisions and makes me worry more about the short term. I have to be careful...I have no choice.

Anyway....have a great day everybody....I'm gonna try and get outside and enjoy the nice weather and not think about this market for a little while. But, lots of decisions need to be made for the short term as I have no idea which way this market is gonna go. If I knew we were going up, I'd buy. If I knew we were going down, I'd sell. If I knew when a bottom was hit, I'd buy. If I knew when a top was hit I'd sell.....since I dont know jack $hit, I dont know what to do<ggg>!

Staggard by the amount of fear still out there.

I'm reminded of an old Negro spiritual -

"If you've knelt beside the rubble
of an aching broken heart
and seen the things you gave
your life to, fall apart.

You're not the first to be acquainted
with sorrow, grief or pain,
but the Master promised
sunshine after rain.

Hold on my child, joy comes
in the morning, weeping only
last for the night, the
darkest time, dawn,
is just in sight. "

Hold on my friend,

V

Gregory-

that was a good analogy.

for what it's worth, i'm probably further in the RED financially than anyone that posts on this board. but i'm not afraid. to the contrary, i'm a little bit exhilarated (if it's possible to be a LITTLE BIT exhilarated). i'm more experienced than i've ever been, i trust uncertainty. i trust it with my life.

the storm is not gone and there will always be more storms ahead, but i'm raising my sails. if they're shredded in the wind, i'll repair them until there's no cloth left and then i'll make new ones out of my clothes. when those are gone, i'll ride the boat until it's torn apart. when that is gone i'll swim. when i can't swim any more, i'll float. and when i can't float anymore and i go under, i'll keep my eyes open and study marine biology as i sink to the bottom.

all the while, i will become involved with the storm. i will not fight it and wish it did not exist. i will study it, respect it and use it's awesome powers to the best of my abilities to reach my uncertain destination.

where do you want to go today?

i want to go sailing.

yer fren,

-polvie

Gregory, nicely written.

I think we are in for stormy weather for quite some time, but there will be nice long stretches where the skies are clear and the wind at our backs.

One needs to maximize the mileage from these clear times, while not leaving themselves too susceptible to the next microburst.

Thanks Weatherman, Scott
