Tony,

Last time I checked the 820 and 840 were all working well with RDRAM. DDR is the technology that is currently having problems with transmission line issues. Your source sounds like they were not well informed. By the way the 840 is certainly a big success.

It is more likely that problems would occur in board manufacture. There are effective techniques for verifying the impedence of different batches of boards.
