I am an environmental engineer, and I have done work in Santa Rosa, near the Geysers. The City of Santa Rosa is constructing a pipeline to take treated wastewater and recycle it to the Geysers. At the Geysers, the wastewater will be injected into the ground to generate additional steam. Without this project, the Geysers would be a depleting resource. With this project, the City of Santa Rosa takes care of the disposal of its wastewater, and Calpine gets more steam at the Geysers for an indefinite period. Very much of a win-win project.
