Isn't that what clawhammer is for? AMD plans that P4 will be facing a 64 bit processor that has similar MHZ, higher IPC, and is 64 bit vs. 32 bit. It will have a smaller die size and use less power than P4 (despite being 64 bit instead of 32 bit) so both the CPU and its infrastructure will cost less to produce. It uses DDR, a higher performing and lower cost memory than P4's Rambus.

Yes, I agree with you. Further I suspect there may be more that will be announced, or at least more details to clawhammer that have not been announced as of yet.

To me it sounds like a great plan - now they just have to continue executing.

Now that's an understatement.
