Of course, this will be VERY expensive since they will (over time) replace nearly their entire installed base > Boy is that an inelegant solution ! Mirroring doubles the cost, and does not perform Error Correction ! It just performs Error Detection, and so in the event of an L2 memory error, the defective bit will be read from the main memory. However Mirroring is a quick band aid, and is probably the only choice available to Sun.
