Reagan spent a lot to defeat the Soviet Union which gave way to this era of prosperity. He simply outspent the Soviets in the weapons race and it broke them. At the same time Liberals spent massive amounts on social programs. Don't forget they controlled the budget.
We spent billions to gain a huge technology lead but for a lousy 1 million dollar campaign contribution it appears we gave much of that away to the military of China. Make no mistake the prosperity we have today is credited by 80 % of Wall Street to Ronald Reagan
You can directly trace the debt to Lyndon Johnson and his massive attack on poverty. Can you say as a liberal that for the massive amounts we have spent to end poverty you are happy ? In the San Franciso area there are more homeless and poor today than 8 years ago. The rich have got richer. The only difference is we heard that statement over and over during the Reagan years. Now we never hear it. The decade of greed under Reagan ? What do you call stocks going up 100 points in 1 day ? The decade of renunciation ?
You liberals love to sound like Mother Theresa but you are only willing to give away someone else's work and money.

The debt was lower than it is today by about $1.7 trillion. Don't forget, he had to clean up the Carter nightmare.knc
