Our Enemies Are Also Our Friends......
>>What if he really really wants NOVL to go back up to 20.>>
I don't doubt he wants this to happen. But I just don't "see and feel" he's capable of inspiring/attracting the kind of trust and energy it takes to get us there.
He's brazenly abused, used and spoiled a good portion of the well of Novell's internal and external public trust by grabbing hundreds of thousands of share $.10 (cents).
He'll remain a marked man just because of this. And the tracks go all the way back to the 300,000 shares he sold last summer in the open market and the return of those shares from Novell's treasury opon becoming COO.
>>Let's just say his entire motivation in life can be narrowed down to SELF INTEREST. Now we can understand that, right? I mean like who here is really doing anything for anybody other than their greedy selves? Which of us is like say Jesus Christ? For you Stewart I will make the supreme sacrifice. All your sins, real or imagined, on my shoulders. What do you think Fred?>>
Yea, the world is chocked full of these characters who are full of themselves: Saddam, Castro, etc. Stewarts actions are simply too blatent to cover up, wink and roll over. He's definitely in this for himself, but he seems to be building walls of control and power inside Novell which are hurting it's ability to connect, communicate, collaborate and cooperate with the outside world. I sure am not impressed with what's been going on since the spring of '99. The stock price is simply another reflection of this.
>>I think its like forget it.>>
Let's get back to your main comment:
>>I mean like who here is really doing anything for anybody other than their greedy selves? Which of us is like say Jesus Christ? For you Stewart I will make the supreme sacrifice.>>
Paul, it's interesting how you have phrased these questions. You don't suppose there is a positive possibility. So you retreat to the circular and chuckle.
I'm just one of those wacky individuals who believe in the powerful energy behind risking, helping, serving, sharing, giving and forgiving. But this isn't about laying down and acting like a service stooge - doing and saying anything in honor to someone/something like Stewart, etc. Phrased in that light, heck no!!!
But I believe individuals are capable of so much more than this horizontal, exchange-based, quid pro quo, obedience/control/structure crap.
I happen to believe unstructured, creative, trusting, "out there", happy, fun, connected, communicative, collaborative, cooperative, sharing, caring, giving exchanges of energy actually start a fission reaction of light and love which is more powerful than anything else in the universe.
So it really all boils down to embracing Stewart with love. I see him grabbing those $.10 options more out of fear-based self interest than anything else. Knowledge of this certainly doesn't light a fire underneath anyone else inside Novell.
But love is just as tough as it is forgiving. I and many others are perfectly capable of forgiving Stewart, but he seems adament that he's right about what happened. Worse, he's perhaps simply pointing this back to the BOD. Failure to take responsibility is not leadership.
>>So let's say Stewart isn't even human. He is a COO machine without feelings. Aha, he has 200,000 share of NOVL which he has bought or borrowed to buy at $8+.>>
If this is true then I think we can do better. Next.
>>Guess what. IF NOVL doesn't go up Stewart doesn't make any money. Not a dime.>>
So what.
Get a person in there with feelings. How bout a woman. What a concept!!
>>Do you have any idea what a trajedy that is? Hmmmm?>>
Yes I do!! And we're all part of it.
>>So let me propose something to you.
Stewart is our friend. He needs NOVL to go up to make money. Therefore he is no different from Fred Smart. In fact if answering your call doesn't make NOVL go up then hey tough tookies. Somebody else maybe calling Stewart.>>
Paul, you are walking on thin ice. You've reduced your entire argument to one thing: MONEY. Sorry, but this won't cut the mustard anymore. Novell deserves better. And I guarantee that Stewart - the feelingless machine he could be per you - would make his $20 a heck of a lot faster with him gone.
>>And I have to beleive that the man has to be listening.
Up against the wall, to use an old 60's phrase.>>
Yes, he's up against a wall he's built himself. It's time for someone new to come in, tear down these walls and breath energy, light and excitement back into the place. Heck, perhaps even Scott could begin to see the advantages of good energy, risk and all this stuff once again.
>>So Fred you know give it up. Stewart doesn't need your input. Stewart must want Novell to succeed. Because if Novell doesn't succeed then Stewart is out 200,000 time $8+.>>
Paul, we need more than money to breath life into this horse. We need dynamic, selfless, creative, exciting leadership.
>>What do you want Scott to do? See an angel?>>
It'd be refreshing if Scott could stop his recurring pattern of blaming/shaming others. I believe when we all originally met Scott he was a refreshingly independent source of energy, truth and light deep inside Novell. He's lost the objectivity through the loss of independence this time - something he still retained back in the days of yore.
Scott has his own angel. I believe Scott 10,000%. I have great respect for him as an individual. We are both learning - in fact we are ALL learning - from these exchanges.
>>Why not just foam at the mouth Fred?>>
You have mischaracterized me. I'm not angry or frustrated over any of this. I see a bright, great future ahead for the internet and many of the folks who have shared their time and trust and energy in this community.
I believe Novell has actually more of a incubator and birthing ground for a lot of these great ideas that have been shared inside and outside this community. The fact that Novell isn't directly benefitting it's stock price is simply a function of the closed nature of the culture and leadership.
Paul, I'm actually foaming at the mouth with hope, wonder and excitement!!!
Peace.
GO!!
NOTE: Those who are your enemies can actually become your best friends. Enemies challenge every one of us for they are actually seeking to verify the truth behind what we all have to offer each other. And here's the bottom line truth: the ONLY thing we have to offer each other is OURSELVES. Be responsible. Stop blaming others. Share yourself, freely, openly and without any conditions or limitations. This is how I have tried to be with Scott and others on this board. Paul, you've come closest to taking my head of a few times. But you know what? I love you for it.
