I agree that individuals have the right to refuse treatment for themselves. But children are subject to community standards for "adequate treatment", IMO. This may put the community in conflict with the parents and is necessarily going to be variable across the States. This is a very slippery slope. Does it extend to the books they read, beliefs they hold, clothes they wear, etc? How far do we intrude into this parent-child relationship. Is the harm we cause greater than the good we create? Dunno.
