Early there was a lot of software, I even had stuff running on a ][ Plus in the early 1980s. There is nothing to compare with the high end stuff for the DOS machines however. Nothing like Tradestation for example so I was forced to move this way. I have a Dual Processor, Twin Monitor, Precision 220 with a lot of extras. dell.com It has the 2000NT OS because the Dual Processor needs that system or higher. The NT OS is very stable however several programs do not run on it. Oddly, some programs work for some and not for others. Some people can get QCharts to run, I cannot. QLink works fine however and so RavenQuote works. Tradestation runs, but not the PowerEditor module of Tradestation. Dell cannot help, neither can QCharts or Omega Research. Been considering Win ME but others who have used it express misgivings as well. Plus, I am not in a rush to buy something only to have the same or similar issues. "Better the Devil I know..." sort of thing. Spent several weeks mid-summer trying to troubleshoot it; decided to live with it until the weather gets cooler and I'm around the office more. Heard a rumor about yet another OS coming out but do not know for certain. Been a sort of major financial error as machines go. Because the old version of Tradestation does not run on Win 2000 I had to buy the new version. Stuff like that, sort of a vicious circle. I went the route of buying the Dual Processor, so I had to get Win 2000, so I had to upgrade TS, and on and on. Poured a lot of money into it. Mac is far simpler to use, but without high end programs I cannot. Catch 22.
